Starting a Drip Irrigation System from an Anti-siphon Valve
Materials needed:
1 ¾” Anti-Siphon Valve (manual or electric)
1 DIG #D54 pressure regulating filter
1 ¾” PVC elbow or TEE (Slip x Thread)
1 DIG #D48 PVC to Poly compression adapter
Teflon tape
PVC Glue
- Wrap the male threads of the #D54 with 4 to 5 layers of Teflon tape in a clockwise direction
- Install the PVC elbow (or TEE) on to the male threads on the filter outlet. The arrow on the filter/regulator body points towards the outlet. Turn the fitting clockwise until hand tight. Take care not to cross-thread the fitting.
- Install the filter/regulator on to the anti-siphon valve by turning the inlet clockwise into the anti-siphon valve outlet. Turn the filter/regulator clockwise until hand tight.
- Glue the #D48 adapter into the PVC fitting using the PVC cement. Apply a thin layer of glue to the inside of the fitting and the outside of the #D54 and push the adapter into the elbow and hold for 10 seconds.
- Uncoil the ½” poly tubing and connect the end to the compression side of the #D48 adapter by forcing it into the fitting while moving the tubing from side to side.
Starting a Drip System from a Sprinkler Riser
Materials Needed:
1 DIG #DSR (Riser Conversion Assembly)
Or
1 DIG #Q59 Conversion Elbow
1 DIG #D57A Screen Filter (Optional)
1 DIG #D46 Pre-Set Pressure Regulator
1 DIG #C38 Swivel TEE
Installation
- No tools are needed for this installation.
- No Teflon tape should be applied to the threads.
- All the components screw on to each other until “hand tight”.
- Make sure the washers are in place in the female fittings or the connections may leak.
- Unscrew and remove the existing sprinkler nozzle.
- If necessary, flush out the riser by opening & closing the system valve.
- Install the #Q59 elbow by turning it clockwise on to the male threads on top of the riser.
- (Optional) Install the #D57A filter on to the elbow by turning the female threads clockwise onto the male threads of the regulator.
- Install the #D46 pressure regulator by turning it clockwise onto the male threads of the filter (or elbow).
- Install the #C38 TEE (or #C34 adapter) by turning it clockwise on to the male threads of the pressure regulator.
- Connect one end of the ½” poly tubing to the swivel TEE by forcing the end into the compression fitting while moving it from side to side.
Starting a Drip Irrigation System from an Outdoor Faucet
Installing the Head Assembly
Materials Needed:
1 DIG #D52 “Y” splitter (Optional)
1 DIG #EVO100 Hose End Timer (Optional)
1 DIG #D45 Backflow Preventer
1 DIG #D57A Screen Filter
1 DIG #D46 Pressure Regulator (pre-set @ 25 psi.)
1 DIG #C34 Swivel adapter
1 DIG #B35 (1/2” poly tubing or DIG starter kit)
- No tools are needed for this installation.
- No Teflon tape should be applied to the threads.
- All the components screw on to each other until “hand tight”.
- Make sure the washers are in place in the female fittings or the connections may leak.
- Some installers may need to use pliers for final tightening, but do not overtighten.
Installation
- Install the Y splitter onto the faucet by turning the female threads clockwise onto the faucet.
- Install the timer (optional) onto the splitter by turning the female threads clockwise onto the male threads until hand tight.
- Install the #D45 backflow preventer onto the timer by turning the female threads clockwise onto the male threads of the timer.
- Install the #D57A screen filter onto the backflow preventer by turning the female threads of the filter clockwise onto the backflow preventer. This is a swivel connection so the filter can be turned without loosening the inlet fitting.
- Install the #D46 pressure regulator onto the filter by turning the female threads clockwise onto the male threads of the filter.
- Uncoil the ½” poly tubing and connect one end to the #C34 swivel adapter by forcing the end into the compression side of the fitting while moving the tubing from side-to-side.
Starting a Drip Irrigation System from an Electric In-Line Valve
Materials needed:
1 ¾” In-Line Valve (AC or DC)
1 DIG #D54 pressure regulating filter
1 ¾” PVC elbow or TEE (Slip x Thread)
1 DIG #D48 PVC to Poly compression adapter
1 Coil of ½” (.700” OD) Poly Tubing
Teflon tape
- Install the filter/regulator on to the in-line valve by turning the inlet clockwise into the anti-siphon valve outlet.
