Commercial Sales Representative - Northern California Territory

Job Title:Commercial Sales Representative – Northern California Territory

Job Summary:

The Northern California Commercial Sales Representative is responsible for the growth of DIG Corporation’s market share from Bakersfield, north to the Oregon border. This includes sales calls to current and potential irrigation distributors, landscape architects, irrigation/landscape contractors, municipalities, irrigation consultants and school districts, while exploring the potential in other markets such as agriculture.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Growing DIG’s unique product line that consists of the following product segments – Drip/Micro Irrigation, LEIT Products (Solar Powered Irrigation Controllers), Battery Operated Controllers and Agricultural products
  • Communicating, updating and reporting important findings to the National Sales Manager on all aspects of the business in conformance with the company’s established policies and objectives
  • Establishing sales’ targets by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for the market segment in the territory as well as projecting expected sales volume for new and existing customers and products
  • Meeting or exceeding quarterly and annual sales forecasts and objectives
  • Developing proposals for submission to clients after ascertaining the client’s needs and requirements
  • Maintaining current and complete knowledge of the products provided by DIG Corporation
  • Maintaining complete knowledge of pricing policies, rebate programs, “Buyback” policies and procedures of the company
  • Maintaining a complete record of current and potential customers, contact persons, addresses, phone numbers and record of most recent contacts and results
  • Developing a sales’ plan for regular customer contacts and providing the Sales Manager with a record of contacts and results of contacts
  • Maintaining current and complete knowledge of trends in the irrigation industry
  • Being aware of what the competition is promoting and the manner in which it is being promoted
  • Assisting installers and end users in the field with DIG products, which directly results in improved product performance and positive feedback from the project specifiers
  • Assisting in the preparation of sales proposals and/or make professional presentations of proposals to clients such as Irrigation Distributors, Landscape Contractors, Municipalities, Landscape Architects and Irrigation Consultants
  • Following up on all completed sales to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Assisting in the establishment of corporate and individual sales goals and in preparation of a Sales Department budget
  • Participating in the development of the proposals together with other sales personnel, and technical and operations personnel, to ensure that the customers’ needs are understood by all corporate personnel and that the developed proposal and schedule of work is what the customer wants
  • Maintaining systems to ensure adequate customer contacts to fulfill established sales goals
  • Presenting proposals to the Sales Manager for approval after all the necessary preliminary steps have been taken
  • Attending, when directed, trade shows and other sales meetings to promote DIG Corporation and its products
  • Promptly transmitting any Purchase Order of a new client/customer which may be received to the Sales Manager for initial processing. All other Purchase Orders of currently approved clients should immediately be transmitted to data entry
  • Making sufficient post sales contact with the client to ensure client satisfaction. Updating client contact records as required by account contact and activity
  • Assisting in the preparation of corporate and individual sales goals, and attending and participating in all sales meetings as directed by the Sales Manager
  • Other duties as assigned by the Sales Manager

 

Qualifications

  • Proven success selling Irrigation Products – we’re looking for someone to AGGRESSIVELY spend a MINUMUM of 50-60% of their time calling on Landscape Contractors, Municipalities, Landscape Architects, Irrigation Consultants and Growers to drive business through Distribution
  • You need to have the ability to cold call and be aggressive in an effort to grow DIG’s market share and presence via “pull through sales”. If you’re not comfortable with the 1st two bullet points please don’t apply as you won’t be a good fit for this position
  • Irrigation industry/Green Industry experience is necessary for this position

Extrusion Roller

Job Title: Extrusion Roller
Location:  San Diego, CA

Job Summary:

The Extrusion Roller is responsible for rolling extruded tubing in a safe and efficient manner and assisting with other departmental duties as assigned.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Extruding tubing in a safe manner to produce a quality product and reporting to the extrusion supervisor or lead on all aspects of the business in conformance with the company’s established policies and objectives
  • Following prescribed procedures to roll extruded tubing to customer requirements
  • Moving and positioning nip rollers, rewind shafts, and razor cut devices as required for proper operation
  • Potentially operating extrusion equipment and monitoring continued operations to maintain proper flow of raw materials and forming, cutting, and rewind operations
  • Performing or assisting in complicated machine setup and equipment repair
  • Detecting and reporting defective material, unusual conditions, or faulty equipment to the department lead or supervisor
  • Interfacing with all departments as required to produce high quality products
  • Ensuring the compliance of safety in the warehouse
  • Other duties as assigned by the department lead or supervisor

Receiving Lead

Job Summary:

The Receiving Associate performs a variety of tasks including verifying that materials received are as ordered and routing incoming shipments to the appropriate departments or locations. If you have familiarity and experience with warehousing, shipping and receiving, coupled with a commitment to great customer service, this is the position for you!

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the company’s receiving duties and reporting to the Warehouse Manager on all aspects of the business in conformance with the company’s established policies and objectives
  • Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other machinery in order to complete tasks such as loading, unloading, sorting, picking, stocking, staging, and transportation of goods
  • Verifying invoices to purchase orders and entering receipt information into the WMS software (requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy)
  • Assisting in stocking products in a designated location or locating products to pull correct quantities to fulfill customer orders as required
  • Notifying supervisor of non-conforming material received from a supplier for corrective action
  • Interfacing with other departments as required for completing job responsibilities

Maintenance Specialist

Job Title: Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary:

The maintenance specialist’s work is primarily characterized by responsibility for DIG’s assembling, packaging and extruding machines, and other related systems, however other responsibilities may be included with this work. Examples of work are troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of the assigned equipment. Work in this classification requires mechanical and electronic diagnostic and repair capabilities.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Managing preventative, predictive, and scheduled maintenance, or repair, for operations equipment
  • Troubleshooting/investigating and repairing all electro–mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and utility systems, including assembly machines, extruder lines, auto bagging machines, chillers, air compressors, etc.
  • Reading and reviewing drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed, from files or other sources. Making any additional sketches, diagrams, etc. as necessary
  • Examining jobs to be done and determining scope and best way to accomplish the work, consulting with supervisor when necessary
  • Recommending equipment to be included in preventive maintenance programs
  • Performing preventative maintenance tasks to identify all potential mechanical and electrical issues with equipment throughout the plant
  • Rebuilding worn-out, but reusable, pieces of equipment, such as gearboxes and others
  • Making periodic checks of the extrusion machine and auxiliary equipment in his/her charge to assure proper mechanical and electrical functioning
  • Handling special assignments or other duties as assigned by authorized personnel.
  • Continuously maintaining proficiency in automation and control systems – company will send to outside courses as needed
  • Working directly with operations management staff to develop and implement the schedule for planned preventive maintenance programs
  • Communicating effectively with management, engineers, mechanics, and equipment operators, and demonstrating equipment functions and features to machine operators

 

Qualifications

Environment

Mechanical Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Planning and execution of all engineering project initiatives in conformance with the company’s established policies and objectives
  • Managing and executing the conception and design of new irrigation products, including CAD design, documentation, development, BOM management, and project scheduling/tracking
  • Using SolidWorks, drafting and CAD design to conceptualize ideas, designs, modeling of parts and assemblies, detailed drawings and exploded view drawings
  • Performing test data plotting
  • Preparing performance curves, functional and hydraulic analyses, initial testing, and verification of part / assembly fit
  • Evaluating design ideas based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods, engineering and market characteristics, operation, tracking and ensuring product requirements, methods of production, schedule, budget and cost constraints
  • Discussing modification and change needs, design of product performance, and design of product enclosure or body
  • Developing simulated models and test procedures, and then aiding in testing of prototypes and interpreting test results

The Customer and Technical Service Representative is responsible for enhancing customer satisfaction by providing information and solutions to problems, and offering problem-solving resources to architects, dealers, homeowners, etc. This person will handle technical calls and inquiries, assist and support the customers and offer enhanced customer service that may help influence business opportunities for the company.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Handling the technical service activities of the Customer Service Department. This person communicates and reports to the Customer and Technical Service Manager on all aspects of the business in conformance with the company’s established policies and objectives
  • Developing documentation and reporting related to claim resolution procedures of the company
  • Processing the return of merchandise from customers which would include record keeping, testing and final disposition
  • Returning defective product received from customers to DIG’s suppliers, manufacturers and vendors for credit
  • Maintaining in-depth technical knowledge of DIG Corporation products and the drip irrigation industry to adequately provide technical telephone support to customers and potential customers
  • Establishing and maintaining a system to send the appropriate information to potential customers and notifying the Sales Department so that they may follow up
  • Testing, repairing and shipping replacement product to customers
  • Resolving problems with clients, customers and others regarding satisfaction with DIG Corporation products
  • Assisting in the preparation of trade show booths and show displays as requested
  • Ensuring that telephones are answered promptly and professionally, and equipment is maintained in good working order
  • Returning calls, not immediately taken, in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate a basic knowledge or aptitude of technical concepts related to equipment operation, repair and maintenance, and the ability to resolve moderately to extremely complex technical issues
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with dealers, customers, and company personnel to resolve day-to-day issues to ensure optimal customer satisfaction
