Extrusion Lead Operator

Job Title: Extrusion Lead Operator (Night Shift)
Status:
Perm/Full-Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a multi-skilled, self-motivated individual with prior technical background in pipe extrusion. This Extrusion Lead Operator will lead and supervise a team of operators to run extruder line to produce polyethylene pipe and dripline. The work is primarily characterized by responsibility for the extruder line and the team that operates it, utilizing company resources to meet production schedules.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team on the extruder line
  • Troubleshooting equipment when necessary
  • Operating and filling for any extrusion positions
  • Implementing and following preventative maintenance programs
  • Communicating effectively with management, engineers, mechanics, and operators

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to work under stressful conditions
  • Ability to perform basic math computations
  • Capability to learn new technologies
  • Must obtain a valid Forklift certification
  • Must be able to work on a flexible schedule
  • Must be able to work closely with others, and guide a team on best practices in terms of troubleshooting & maintenance

 

Education/Work Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in pipe extrusion
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

 

Environment

Extrusion Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a multi-skilled, self-motivated individual with prior background in providing technical guidance and support to the pipe extrusion operators. This individual will lead and promote a safe working environment in every aspect of their role. The Extrusion Technician will possess considerable skills, knowledge, and experience in extrusion line operation, including installation, modification, calibration, maintenance, and repair of equipment. This position reports to Production Supervisor.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the pipe extrusion lines
  • Managing preventative, predictive, and scheduled maintenance, or repair of automation equipment and others
  • Contributing to and supporting accident-free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations
  • Reading and reviewing drawings, instructional manuals, and special procedures, as needed, from files or other sources
  • Making additional sketches, diagrams, etc. as necessary
  • Documenting all repairs and keeping track of machine parts used for repair
  • Assuring proper mechanical and electrical functioning of all extrusion and related equipment
  • Maintaining proficiency in control systems

 

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude; must understand manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Proficient problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under stressful situations
  • Ability to work closely with others, guiding them to follow best practices in terms of troubleshooting & maintenance
  • Drive to learn new technologies
  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule in a fast-paced environment, and can work, if necessary, up to a 12-hour shift
  • Good understanding of English and working understanding of Spanish

  • Three or more years of experience working as an extrusion technician

Machine Operator

Job Title: Machine Operator
Location:  San Diego, CA
Status:
Perm/Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Machine Operator is responsible for rolling extruded tubing in a safe and efficient manner and assisting with other departmental duties as assigned.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Extruding tubing in a safe manner to produce a quality product and reporting to the extrusion supervisor or lead on all aspects of the business in conformance with the company’s established policies and objectives
  • Following prescribed procedures to roll extruded tubing to customer requirements
  • Moving and positioning nip rollers, rewind shafts, and razor cut devices as required for proper operation
  • Potentially operating extrusion equipment and monitoring continued operations to maintain proper flow of raw materials and forming, cutting, and rewind operations
  • Performing or assisting in complicated machine setup and equipment repair
  • Detecting and reporting defective material, unusual conditions, or faulty equipment to the department lead or supervisor
  • Interfacing with all departments as required to produce high quality products
  • Ensuring the compliance of safety in the warehouse
  • Other duties as assigned by the department lead or supervisor

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly, bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Forklift experience is a plus
  • Team attitude

 

Education/Work Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or up to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior experience in a warehouse setting working with plastics and/or extruded tubing
