What solenoid and valves are compatible with Leit-2 controllers?

DIG Corp. recommends using our in-line valve with the solenoid pre-installed model # 305DC-075 for 3/4″, 305DC-100 for 1″, 305DC-150 for 11/2″ and 305DC-200 for 2″. If DIG valves are not being called to use with-in the irrigation blueprint DIG recommends using the Unimax S-300 series universal DC solenoid P/N S-305DC and solenoid adaptor P/N 30-9xx depending on the brand of valve being adapted to.

Why is water leaking externally around the S-305DC solenoid adapter?

Could be caused by one or more of the following…

  • Static mainline pressure above 150 PSI.
  • Mainline pressure surges above 150 PSI.
  • Damaged or missing “O”-ring on adapter
  • Adapter is over or under tightened
  • Wrong adapter for valve
  • Cross-threaded or damaged adapter
  • Damaged female threads on valve bonnet
  • Incompatible valve

How do I connect to a Leit-2 controller if I don't remember the Control ID or Client ID?

  • The Leit-2 controller, Control ID must be temporarily reset to 00 using a 9-volt battery. (See Leit-2 ID reset cutout). The reset allows entering the controller to find the old ID without resting the program.
  • Note: If resetting a LEIT-2 controller makes sure no other controllers charging with the yellow wires connected within the distance
  • Resting: For resetting the controller, it require one sensor wire to touch the positive end of the 9 volt battery and the other sensor wire to touch the negative polarity of the 9V battery. Then flip the battery around and touch the sensor wires to the opposite polarity that they were initially connected to. (i.e. sensor end “A” to ‘+’ and sensor end “B” to ‘-‘; then sensor end “B” to ‘+’ and sensor end “A” to ‘-‘) The time required for this is very minimal; meaning as long as you have contact even 1 millisecond is enough. I’ll just say have the wires connected for 1 second. It would be best if the controller were charged up before resetting. After a reset, the controller is able to connect to a handset as “00” for 2 minutes if the LEIT-2 controller has already been assigned a number (regardless of the controller client ID). After connecting as “00” you should be able to see what number the controller was set to as you get the option to change the controller ID, description and client ID if needed.

Why can I not connect to Leit-2 after it's been properly ID'd?

  • Could be caused by one or more of the following…
    • There may be something covering the PVM (solar Panel).
    • Improper Control ID number being connected to.
    • The Client ID number on the Leit-RC2 handset and Leit-2 controllers have an ID conflict, the LEIT-2 and LEIT RC2 need to be programmed with the same ID.
    • Another controller in the distance may have the same ID

Why can't I connect in the early morning, however I can connect later in the day?

  • Communication with the Leit-2 controller will only initiate when the controller is fully charged. It takes approximately 2 hours to charge the Leit-2 controller in shaded conditions and approximately 30 minutes to charge the Leit-2 controller in sunny conditions.

My V1 and V2 wire identifiers have been removed, what color wire goes to what station?

  • V1 or Station 1 wires are identified as the red and white striped pair of wires. V2 or Station 2 wires are identified as the red and white pair of wires

Can I control more than 2 valves by piggybacking the wires together?

  • No, the Leit-2 controller can only accommodate up to 2 valves only. If more than 2 valves are required to complete the installation, a second Leit-2 controller must be purchased.

How can I test a S-305DC solenoid?

  • By using a 9-volt battery can test the S-305DC solenoid. Hold the red wire from the actuator on the positive (+) battery terminal, and the white wire on the negative (-) terminal, and listen for the plunger to “click”. If it does not, wait 10 seconds, then reverse the polarity (hold red wire to the negative terminal and white wire to positive), and test it again. If the actuator does not “click” with either battery test, it will not function with a Leit-2 controller.

What kind of sensors is compatible with Leit-2?

  • The Leit-2 is only compatible with normally closed type sensors. These sensor types include: Rain sensors (Hunter Mini Click II (model 502) and Rain Bird RSD), Moisture sensors (Irrometer RA and TGA series) and Freeze sensor (Hunter Freeze-Click).

Can I connect a flow sensor to Leit-2 controllers?

  • No, not at the time of this printing, however DIG Corp. is developing the technology and software to make Leit-2 controllers capable of sensing flow, (and overflow). In the near future, when overflow conditions are detected, LEIT controllers will be capable of closing not just master valves, but individual station valves as well.

I am installing a LEIT 2 system with more then 1 controller and I have a problem connecting for the first time.

  • Could be caused by one or more of the following…
  • There may be something covering the PVM (solar Panel) and the controllers are not charged.
  • ID conflict, the yellow sensor have been connected on the controllers at the same time, the controllers power is full and the controllers are active.
    • Only one controller should be install at the time to make sure that no radio conflict accrue
      • Steps needed if the installer has more then one controller
        Step 1: Let the controller charge for about 30-60 minutes
        Step 2: Connect the yellow wire on one controller only
        Step 3: connect to this controller using the default setup
        Step 4: After connecting to the controller, this controller has been given ID # 1. Go to the controller setup and give to this controller a different ID# (Do not use ID # 1 if more then 1 controller in the distance), at the same time make sure to give to the controller an address
        Step 5: After setting a new ID and address, we suggest to exit this controller and then testing this controller using the new ID#
    • Do not set the controller to ID #1, you may have a conflict when more then one controller is available and need to be to program.

I may have a problem with my handset power using it for the first time:

  • Make sure that the handset client ID is the same as the controller client ID (the default is AAA)
  • When the handset is coming out of the box, the battery has been sitting idle for a while. Common battery technology is that batteries drain a little bit at a time when it is just idling. If the battery were fully charged before going out, it would take only a little bit of time for the handset to be fully charged again. The situation that came up though is that when the screen turned on, it was at a “FAILED, TRY AGAIN?” screen. In this situation the handset microcontroller is on and operating when the battery is above 2.5 Volts. When pressing the buttons randomly, the user accidentally tried to connect to a controller, but wasn’t able to. At this moment the screen and memory was at the “FAILED, TRY AGAIN?” screen. The LCD turns on when the battery is above 3.3 Volts. So in between when the battery is charging of 2.5 V and 3.3 V, the LCD screen is not on, but is still operating. When you turn off the handset with the transformer still plugged in, it would go to a charging screen. If the controller is already indicated as charged then it will show the “CHARGED” screen. Disconnecting the transformer and reconnecting it will force it to charge a little bit more even though it is “CHARGED.” It is suggested though, that before using the handset, it should be charged for a couple hours just like most other battery using electronics, (i.e. cell phones, pdas, etc.)
