Method of installing TOP
12 outlet drip head |
|
Below grade installation
inside 6" irrigation box |
- If it is feasible, excavate
the entire area, 4" to 6" deep, for the layout of the
distribution micro tube. If not, dig a 4" to 6" deep
trench to each plant, planting all trees, shrubs and flowers
first.
- Plant all trees, shrubs and
flowers.
- Install control wires and lay
them to the sides or below the main line.
- Install remote control valve
or battery operated controller with a filter and pressure regulator
below grade. See overview
of system requirements
- Lay out the lateral line and
connect it to the electric remote control valve or battery operated
controller.
- Cap off, flush and test lateral
line.
- Install all 1/2" risers
6' to 8' apart.
- Cap off, flush and test lateral
line and 1/2" risers.
- Place TOP 12 outlet drip heads
and remove their covers (see detail).
- Lay out the distribution micro
tubes to the plants (see detail for number of outlets per plant).
We recommend a maximum length of 8'.
- When plants mature, they may
require more water. Watering times can be lengthened to meet
those needs, but generally, more outlets should be added to supply
the maturing plant. Also, new plants may be added to the landscape.
We recommend leaving 2 to 4 of the 12 outlets on each TOP unused
by using model 10-015 caps to cap each one.
- Cover TOP 12 outlet and hand
tight the cover
- Use stake model 16-016 to hold
the distribution micro tubing to the ground, and a bug plug to
close the end of the distribution micro tube. Use bug plug model
10-016 for 1/8" distribution micro tube or model 10-0xx
for 1/4".
- Install air/vacuum relief valve
inside 6" irrigation box at the highest elevation point
within the lateral.
- Install a flush valve or ball
valve inside 6" irrigation box at the end of the lateral.
- Flush and test the entire system
and check all connections and TOP 12 outlet for leaks.
- Inspect and replace leaking
and damaged parts.
- Test the system with continuous
pressure for two hours.
- Cover the entire area to a finish
grade with 2" to 4" of mulch.
- Instruct personnel on the proper
operation and maintenance.
