Method of installing A1 drip line

Below grade close loop installation of A1 PC drip line
  • Where it is feasible excavate the entire area to the depth recommended for the layout of the drip line, or trench a ditch 4" to 5" deep for placing A1 drip line starting 2" to 4" from sidewalk or curb.
  • Plant all large trees and shrubs, 10 gallons and up.
  • Install control wires and lay them to the side or below main line.
  • Install remote control valve or battery operated controller with a filter and pressure regulator below grade. See overview of system requirements
  • Install supply line and connect to electric remote control valve or battery operated controller.
  • Flush and test supply line.
  • Place A1 PC drip line at the row spacing recommended and to a depth of 4" (see spacing and flow rates) and cap off all openings to prevent dirt entering the drip line by using model 16-021 hose end.
  • At the end of each A1 drip line run, trench a large opening in the ground to connect the A1 drip line to the PVC pipe or poly pipe supply line to form a closed loop.
  • Use PVC insert model 24-008 to connect A1 drip line to a PVC supply line by utilizing SCH 40 slip tee or compression tee or model 24-003 to connect to poly pipe.
  • Install air/vacuum relief valve inside 6" irrigation box at the highest elevation point within the zone.
  • Install a flush valve or ball valve inside 6" irrigation box at the end of the supply line.
  • Plant all small sized shrubs and flowers.
  • Remove all rocks from excavated area and do not backfill the trenches with rocks to prevent damage to the drip line.
  • Flush and test the entire system and check all connections and A1 drip line for leaks.
  • Inspect and replace leaking and damaged parts.
  • Test the system with continuous pressure for two hours.
  • Cover the entire area to a finish grade with 4" of mulch.
  • Instruct personnel on the proper operation and maintenance.
