Troubleshooting
- AC valve does not operate properly:
- WRONG VALVE SIZE, FLOW TOO LOW: replace with correct size valve
- DIAPHRAGM ORIFICE IS PLUGGED: clean or replace diaphragm
- SOLENOID FAULTY: check wiring or replace solenoid
- Battery operated controller does not operate properly:
- CHECK THE BATTERY: make sure the 9-volt controller battery is good, replace battery
- Battery operated controller does not close:
- PUPPET IS MISSING, "O" ring #2 is missing, lever is in the open position visit the replacment parts page
- DIAPHRAGM is torn, or worn out, visit the replacment parts page
- SOLENOID PLUNGER is missing or upside down VALVE is installed backwards
- Pressure regulator leaking:
- DIRT INSIDE THE PRESSURE REGULATOR: remove from line, remove the washer and clean
- REGULATOR IS INSTALLED ON MAINLINE. Move to downstream side of control valve.
- Drippers or micro sprinklers have uneven or no flow:
- LINE BROKEN, FILTER CLOGGED, DRIPPER CLOGGED OR FAULTY, OR PRESSURE TOO LOW: check mainline for leaks, clean or replace screen filter, replace or clean dripper or nozzle of micro sprinkler, check pressure regulator
- Drippers or micro sprinklers have uneven or no flow at the end of the line:
- TOO MANY DRIPPERS ON THE LINE: make sure that you did not exceed the total maximum recommended flow rate (220 GPH)
- Backflow preventer leaks or vibrates:
- Make sure it is installed downstream of timer and not on a mainline
- Fittings separating from 1/2" poly tubing:
- FITTINGS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED: tubing is not far enough inside the compression fitting
- WRONG FITTINGS USED WITH DIG POLY TUBING WITH .700 OD: cut the 1/2" poly tubing and make sure to use .700 OD fitting with color code black insert
- Drippers or micro sprinklers popping out of poly tubing:
- PRESSURE REGULATOR IS DEFECTIVE: replace or clean pressure regulator
- PRESSURE IS TOO HIGH: install pressure regulator or replace
- DRIPPERS OR MICRO SPRINKLERS ARE INSTALLED IMPROPERLY: faulty or worn punch, check or replace drippers or micro sprinklers, plug hole with #56 goof plug, replace or clean punch
- Clogged drippers:
- THE USE OF A PROPER FILTER SHOULD AVOID CLOGGING PROBLEMS. If you do find clogged drippers, here is a step to try: while the water is on, hold your finger over the dripper outlet for a few seconds. This "back flushing" will usually work
- Many drippers are not working:
- IF MANY DRIPPERS ARE CLOGGED: chances are there is a break in the line and dirt is penetrating the system, check 1/2" poly tubing and using #17 fittings to patch as needed
- THE USE OF A PROPER FILTER SHOULD AVOID CLOGGING PROBLEMS: clean the screen in the swivel adapter or open the filter and clean the screen by washing with water END OF LINE IS OPEN
- No water flow from micro sprinklers model 8855-xx:
- PROBLEM OCCURS IN A MICRO SPRINKLER MODEL 8855, 8855-1 ON A SPIKE OR 8855-5 ON A SPIKE: remove nozzle from "C" shaped head and rinse nozzle thoroughly under water
- Threaded fittings are leaking:
- CHECK THREAD TYPE (hose or pipe) and do not combine hose thread with pipe thread fittings
- Drippers or micro sprinklers have calcium deposits (white color buildup):
- HARD WATER: remove the drippers or micro sprinklers from the line and soak for one hour in a weak chlorine solution
- Plants appear stressed:
- DRIPPERS NEAR THE PLANTS ARE PLUGGED: replace drippers, check filter and clean
- BREAK IN THE POLY TUBING: repair break using #17 connector or #56 goof plug
- RUN TIME IS INADEQUATE FOR PLANTS: add more time to the controller station
