About the Job
DIG Corporation, an innovative irrigation company located in Vista, CA is seeking a proven, results-driven Sales and Marketing Director. This position will function as a key member of the company’s senior executive team and will be responsible for the planning and implementation of DIG’s Sales and Marketing strategy from the ground up.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Director of Sales and Marketing is in charge of all sales, marketing and customer support activities.
- Establish major customer accounts- driving top line growth. Creates an action plan to seek and target new customers/opportunities.
- Manage the sales projections and revenue goals of the business including forecasting, proposal generation, accounts development strategies to significantly grow the business and contracts review.
- Involved in the hiring, training, mentoring and review of a cohesive and decisive sales, advertising and promotions, and customer service team, which delivers results.
- Develops objectives and policies for the sales, advertising and promotions, and customer service department. Plans and sets direction, coordinates the effort of department staff towards achievement of organizational objectives.
- Responsible for profit margin and overhead costs incurred for the department's operation.
- Responsible for competitive positioning of the organization within the market place.
- Act as subject matter experts to the COO and other departmental leaders on issues relating to sales and marketing.
- Perform revenue forecasts and win/loss reports that illustrate the sales team's overall performance against quota.
- Senior responsibility for all Trade Account Receivables. Monitors A/R aging accounts on proactive basis with his personnel, coordinates with CFO, Controller and Accounts Receivable.
- Develops presentations for clients and partners, conducting market analysis and devising strategies for generating new business.
- Directly involved in the critical sales and negotiations meetings with the sales team to support execution.
- Demonstrate leadership in driving a successful and growing corporate vision and culture in support of the COO and President.
- Establish training programs for the sales team.
- Lead the marketing effort to develop, establish, and direct strategies and programs, which support the growth plans of the company.
- Maintain key customer relationships, develop and implement strategies and programs, which support the growth plans of the company (nationally and internationally).
- Leadership and direction of the day-to-day operations for the sales, advertising and promotions, and customer service departments, while maintaining focus on the company’s strategic goals.
- Supervise the preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, exhibits, and promotion programs.
- Prepares budgets and approves budget expenditures.
- Represents the company at various community, business and trade associations
QUALIFICATIONS
- Significant sales management experience, including demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and to develop and execute targeted sales strategy.
- Successful track record of success in consultative sales and a proven ability to develop relationships and networks.
- Experience selling products and dealing with major retailers and distributors.
- The ability to be creative in sales and marketing, and to generate and implements new idea and practices.
- Experience building and managing teams.
- Computer knowledge
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in sales and marketing, business management or related field.
- MBA is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in high-level sales and marketing management capacity in the manufacturing industry directing several teams.
- Must have a good understanding of mass markets with EDI systems to drive a growing business.
- Knowledge of inventory systems with perishable products is highly desirable; strong motivational, innovative, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership ability to influence, develop, and empower employees to achieve objectives with a team approach.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Current state of California Driver’s License
- Travel is required, 30-50%
